What a win, both for the team and for KA personally. Silencing the critics, most of all himself in regards to our away form. A few standouts from today:

- As much as Igor’s form has been a revelation, it’s important others add a few goals too. So it’s great that KLP got 2.

- Both Vitaly and MJ grabbing their chances to impress, more than mere rotation options.

- CK penalty save. That clean sheet will feel twice as sweet

- 10 points clear of the drop 😊
Think you forgot to say six points off Europe mate 🐝🐝

Football. A game that likes to remind you that fundamentally you know f**k all about it
To be fair to you, he's often looked a little lost going forward and far more effective at LWB. Both of his goals yesterday he was moving like a second striker rather than a winger, Michael Owen like movement!

Wolves 0 Brentford 2 (Lewis-Potter 2)

It was noticeable we lacked confidence and conviction in our passing and build up play in the first half. 2nd half was better in that we passed the ball quicker and with intent. I did think we might mess it up again the last ten minutes. We seem to have a number that lack confidence/conviction or have confidence levels that are very fragile. Overall, the sum of our whole is still greater than our parts, and they always put effort in and are carrying on the good work from the last few seasons.

I think KLP could play behind a front man. He is comfortable on the ball and can finish when he doesn't think about it. His 2nd was similar to the goal he scored at Palace a few seasons ago. Hopefully, these two goals will give his confidence a boost.

Wolves had some players who with better technical qualities than us, especially in midfield, and at times they moved the ball between the lines in one and two touches very effectively, until they reached our box.

If this season looked bad for Wolves, this contextualises it further. Massive credit to their fans for still bothering to turn up. From recent threads on here I think quite a lot of us in similar circumstances wouldn’t.

Club Captain Matt Doherty had some choice words for his teammates post match. To be fair, he’s already played perhaps more than he might have expected to, this season. “Cowards” and “January moves” featured amongst them (MOTD).

That’s taken out of context. It was a radio interview on BBC5 live after the game and he said “what do we want to be remembered for?” for the second half of the season and used that term and talked about players should not be wanting to leave in the January window.

Such a weird league this season, we’re a young team still finding our way but level on points with Newcastle, above Spurs and one point behind Brighton.

Feel sorry for the Wolves fans, a club that has lost their team and identity to their owners.

We’re always a better team going into the last few months of the season, feels like there is opportunity this season if we can buff the squad a bit.

Wolves 0 Brentford 2 (Lewis-Potter 2)

I would love KLP to seize this opportunity with Dango away at Afcon - really like him as a character, and he was great last season. Time will tell but I haven't seen much to suggest he is going to make that position his since he joined us.
👏👏👏

People were understandably upset at half time. Not because they are negative people. We have a talented squad and we all know the heights they can reach.

Let’s just celebrate the victory today😁

The post I responded to wasn’t written at half time, it was written at full time after what was a very dominant and professional second half where we literally missed 3 sitters to go with the goals.

Big shout out to the 3rd kit, all 4 away wins this season have come with us wearing the light blue.

Ditch the brown kit!
As opposed to the previous light blue kit that was for some reason "cursed" and needed to be binned because we couldn't win in it... until we did. But yes well done to this blue kit.

Unless the players actually don't like the brown (then weird if it got off the drawing board) I wouldn't worry about. There's no such thing as an unlucky kit... It just becomes another thing for the pre-match anxiety posters.

FWIW I reckon we'll be packing the brown for Sheff Wed in the cup

You can’t compare us to the team that played last season. We saw the culmination of years of planning and developing. Wissa and Mbeumo weren’t always the players they are now, Wissa especially used to be very wasteful when holding the ball up. We took two very good strikers to their peaks, we’re never going to sign replacements at the same level already.

Not to mention Norgaard was central to everything we’ve done well in the Premier League, our game flowed through him and he’s a much better passer of the ball than Henderson is. It’s difficult to find players of that quality for a price we can afford, we have one of the lowest wage and transfer budgets in the league.

This is Thiago’s first season in the Prem, Dango has never played regularly before either. They are both rough diamonds who have work to do on their build up play, like their predecessors had to do. Henderson doesn’t really have the range of passing or flexibility when passing that Norgaard had. This means the best way for us to create chances is to go long and play to the strengths of our very big and very fast forward line.

If Carvalho and Milambo weren’t out for the season then we’d likely see more of them throughout December and Jan, allowing us to expand the way we want to play. But that can’t happen.

There really aren’t many other options available to how we’re playing, and unfortunately there isn’t any time in the calendar at the moment to do work on the training ground.

Only thing I disagree with is Hendo’s range of passing, I think this eclipsed Norgaard by some distance. Norgaard was always the conduit of our build up, but he never hit 40-50 yard passes and landed them on a sixpenny so effortlessly

We will bring out a fourth kit for the cup to gauge fans reaction as it's will be needed for Europe next season.

Been supporting the Bees since the Jan of 2011.

Nowhere near as long as many that are on here, but still long enough to remeber the times being in League 1 and the away days to places such as Swindon, Yeovil and Scunthorpe.

So believe me, I understand that within the 'grand scheme of things', were absolutely flying.

But just because were in the premier league, doesn't mean its unjust to point out issues and weaknesses within the team.

2011 is about the same time my son started coming, and around the same time Mathew Benham bought into Brentford. My son will be 22 in Jan, so that’s makes him 7 or 8 when he started coming regularly.

In that 15-16 years we have seen MB arrive, 3 promotions, cup semi finals, our first play off win, 5 years in the premier league, our centre forward score on his debut for England, the England captain join us, teams we used to dream of drawing in the cup, Newcastle, Chelsea, Man unt regularly thrashed by 4 goals and our players being sold for up to 72m whilst building a lovely new stadium.

To be fair, in the last 15 years you have seen literally no bad times whatsoever. Some of the away games you mention were the good times when we were winning.

For the 40 odd years before that we had 9 play off defeats, sold all out best players for peanuts, 4000 people in a sh*t hole ground and no chance of doing anything ever. Away trips to Exeter and Morecambe brought miserable defeats.

Good thinking. And if we make it a two-season kit we can get some use out of it in the Championship too, after the emphatic record breaking relegation that a few extra games in Europe would trigger. Apparently.

A good team victory with no real stand out player as Man of the Match; although, push comes to shove I think Janelt would perhaps be the man.

Credit to Wolves fans who turned up in numbers and backed their side (I did not notice any booing by them) despite their woeful position and points tally.

Good, happy journey home and when filling the tank at Bagshot saw another Bees fan on his way home from the game - Bees everywhere now it seems!

Wolves 0 Brentford 2 (Lewis-Potter 2)

So your happy with the way in which we have played since Brighton away?

If so... you carry on.

I do acknowledge your post and points made, However, to contrast, we rank 2nd bottom more passing % in the final 3rd, and rank 15th in the league for number of assists, suggestive of a rebound goals.

HOWEVER - - - I don't want to be a 'doomsdayer', I don't think anyone appreciates that.

We're not in danger of relegation, and we may even do well in the cup and, the league is a lot tighter this season, keeping us in the running for a decent finish in the table - which would be fantastic for both Andrews and the club.

Believe me, I know a few people who are a lot more 'negative' than me, and dislike Andrews a damn sight more. So, when talking to them I often express a contrast to what I display on the GPG.

So, I am merely playing devils advocate, although I do believe that there are some issues that need addressing (its clear to see).

Merry Christmas.

You BEEESS 💪🐝
Agree we’ve dipped but I’ll keep dying on the hill that we were actually quite good at Brighton and were very unlucky to leave with nothing. Maybe yesterday’s mostly insipid and tired performance leading to a win makes up for that.

Season 2013/14 Wolves won League 1. Brentford as runners up (94 points ) joined them in the Championship. Looking at our respective positions now, it is a measure of just how well we have done. Wolves might be a big club, but like so many other big clubs have been shown up by the brilliance of MB.

Another 4 wins should secure safety, Bournemouth match will be a better indication of where we are at.

Well indeed, and they've been higher still in the period in between - eight years in the PL, two seventh place PL finishes and a Europa League quarter final (and yes they did manage 7th with European football and that was in the days of three qualifying rounds too!).

The bigger surprise to me is to see a team with all that behind them having 2 points at Christmas, rather than a team promoted on a wing and a prayer that was never anywhere near good enough to survive. The dangers of a couple of bad transfer windows and bad managerial appointments?

We've given them more wake-up calls than most of the so-called big clubs we've crossed paths with in the Championship and then the PL over the last decade - the wonderful 4-0 in 2014/15 avenging the 3-0 defeat the year before - including a Jota in the last minute - doing the double the season after, and now 3 PL wins at Molineux.

I hope Nathan Collins enjoyed yesterday ... after their fans taunting of him at the Gtech two Christmases ago.

Good to see everyone arguing after a win...

The performance wasn't great, but our away form has been poor so it's probably not unexpected our confidence would be low. Wolves first and foremost didn't want to lose. The same goes for Burnley and arguably Leeds. Those games aren't always glamorous and getting the win is all that matters.

We've now won 2 away from home. This time last season we'd won 0 away. Six teams haven't won 2 away games yet including Newcastle and Bournemouth.

We're on 23 points still in the first half of the season. We probably need 12 from 21 games to be safe. We also have gotten the hard home games out the way already.

So we're doing well. Our forward line is a bit decimated so it's probably not a shock we're a little stale up front currently.

We'd all have taken 23 points by Christmas. It's not always glamorous but a lot of teams are inconsistent this year.

Have a good Christmas all!

Bournemouth seem a better comparison to us than a Wolves side who are Championship level at best.
Over last 10 games Bournemouth are in bottom 3, Brentford 6th

Wolves 0 Brentford 2 (Lewis-Potter 2)

This is a season where someone "established" is going to get dragged down with a couple of promoted teams. As far as I am concerned, as long as we win games, I don't really care how we do it.

It would be great to blow teams away, but we're Brentford, that's not going to happen very often. Winning dirty, 2 nil, away from home, will do me. Our away form has been poor, so that's a great 3 points.

Keep moving forward.
Yep and even a few tough 0-0 s away especially against the 'big 6'. Just get the points on the board and then try different ideas. And players too.

Liverpool won just their 2nd away game yesterday !!!
Liverpool have won four away games.
It's only their second away win since their 5/5 at the start of the season though.
Or if you exclude 95th / 100th minute winning goals 😇

I completely acknowledge your post.

And yes, I have had it easier than most that are on here, My dad, who has been going to Brentford since the late 70s, regularly used to tell me (and still does from time to time) about how utterly dross we used to be, and how lucky I am to be watching Brentford at this time.
'All the sh*t I had to watch growing up' he says to me, and I am very much au fait about our history and many playoff defeats.

Afterall, I have been to the Yeovil 2-1 PO final loss, also games such as Rovers at home in 2013 (that dreaded day) and my first ever game was a 2-0 loss away to Yeovil on a freezing January day in 2011. Even the JP Trophy loss to Carlisle (what a boring game that was to watch)

Again, nowhere near the level of what most on here have witnessed, experienced and felt, but still, I would say, enough so that I understand where the club has come from. I myself sometimes can't believe where we are. Being a distinguished regular within the best league in the world.

However, just because we are where we are, doesn't mean us, as supporters, aren't allowed to point out issues, modifications needed and concerns that need be addressed within the team. Its all in the principle of wanting to do better. Its this principle of wanting to constantly do better, through addressing issues which has allowed to the club to advance to where it is today (and where it could be tomorrow)

I understand that many are happy just be to in the Premier League, and in many ways, winning games is just a bonus, so why complain about it - right?

Its a long argument to be had, with many contrasting and valid points on either side, but my underlying statement is this:
Lets not winge, but merely point out issues within the team when we feel like it. Not in a manor of being spoilt but more so in the principles of wanting the club to do better (as I'm sure they will).

Wolves 0 Brentford 2 (Lewis-Potter 2)

The performances have been frustrating recently but everyone has to remember overhaul we've just had in the summer. Lost alot of key players, coaching staff and one of the longest serving managers in the game. It was always going to be a big challenge and given the context I think everyone has dug in and done a good job keeping the ship steady. I'm sure we can refine our style of play and hopefully add more players as time goes on

Range probably not the best word to use, Henderson’s long range passing is great. But Norgaard thrived in those awkward moments where you’d only expect a Damsgaard or Jensen to pull something out. He had a lot more variety to what he could do and so it meant we could link up well with short, fast football in pockets.

Henderson’s passing is very good but it is also very direct, he’s always been like that. But it does mean that away from Jensen and Damsgaard we lack the players to help us in build up and transition when the ball is in tight spaces or needs to be threaded through carefully.
