If Toney hadn't moved on I don't think we would have seen much of Wissa, and he would probably finished up being sold to Middlesboro
or someone similar.

Wissa is a fantastic player and clearly getting even better. Would love him and Bryan to stay and wonder if maybe they will. I know f-all about what its like to be a professional footballer playing in the premier league, but Wissa and Mbuemo seem to really delight in each other's company, are a fantastic strike partnership and play for Thomas Frank's Brentford, who's astonishing skills as a man-manager help create a great club 'culture' (to quote TF) where players are happy and feel valued and respected. They'll both be earning the kind of weekly wage most of us would be delighted to get in a year - can't see why they'd want to leave and we don't need to sell. Mind you, I know f'all about the life of a professional footballer.

Why on earth do so many people revel in the prospect of selling any of our wonderful players?

It’s almost as if they think they will be getting the money personally.
I don’t disagree, but we must recognize that it costs money to run and grow a successful football club and cultivating and selling players is a surefire way to do it. It hurts to see them go, but a profit of 70+ million would be a massive boost

Yoane Wissa

I'm naive enough to think Wissa loves it here enough to continue on the Brentford journey.

Plus I agree with others to replace him for a first team starter will cost more than what we get for him. Unless we have a player developing and near ready to reach his levels.
I would like to think the same as you.

The reality is though, he has had a lot of centre forward time, firstly because of Ivan's ban and now because of Thiago's injury. He is clearly enjoying his football in that position; much preferred to supersub (as he was) or being up front on the right or left (where he is far less effective).

Once Thiago is fit and scoring, he will be the main CF. The question then will be if Wissa is prepared to stay, as he won't be first choice CF and will probably score fewer goals.

BM, IT, YW, KS and KLP - Thomas can't keep them all happy.

Thiago has a big job on his hand ousting our record PL goal scorer (1 to go) from the starting line up

Thiago needs to show something before he starts ahead of Wissa in my opinion. Wissa and Mbeumo have been fantastic this season and Schade is showing good signs as well. I would be offering Wissa a new contract, he may not accept it but I would try.

Of course. I'd love to see all 3 on together!

But we haven't spent £30m for Thiago to come off the bench for the next year or two.

£27m of Carvalho is likely though ??

There is no guarantee he is going to better than Wissa despite costing over 3 times as much. The way we play suits Wissa, but it may not Thiago. I may change my mind when he gets fit, but he will need to be very good. Wissa has been outstanding this season. Fabio cost 27 million and currently he doesn't look like a Premiership player, but we all know our players take a while to get going with our system. Hope your right with IT.

Yoane Wissa

All good points but through the eyes of a fan. Ultimately this is a profession for them and if someone is prepared to double their wages for the next 3 or 4 years most footballers will take that option.

I'd love Wissa and Mbeumo to stay at Brentford for the rest of their careers but realise that this is unfortunately very unlikely.

The times they are a changing. We have 4 strikers and Magic is happy with at least 3 of them and is not calling for any more! Full backs on the other hand..........

True, but it may take Tiago another year once he returns from injury to show us what he is capable of. Look at Wissa, Bryan, Schade etc etc. It's not going to happen overnight. There also seems to be a constant flow of injuries to contend with, so I think we will be fine with a choice of 4 or 5 strikers.

Thiago has played 1 game, who knows when he will be back. The way we pick up injuries everyone will get plenty of game time.

Didn't we buy IT to replace the other IT?

SS News saying when asked if we were selling BM and/or YW this window, Thomas laughed ?

Yoane Wissa

It is not a question of whether Thiago is "better"than Wissa or vice versa, the key point is that they are totally different in style of play and offer us variety and flexibility to change how we play.
The potential attacking three selection from Lewis-Potter; Schade; Wissa; Thiago; Mbeumbo is an exciting prospect and gives Thomas a number of options of playing style with additional options to change it around during a game.

We’re not a Sunday morning pub team where players are selected (after best mates) in the position they want to play in.

Lots of great attackers just wish we had another left footed option with Bryan our only left footer.
As Thomas likes his inverted wingers. It maybe I’m just greedy?
Do like the look of esse but looks like going to the palace now.

Yoane Wissa

I never said I wanted to sell him.
I stand by the fact that 25m+ for a 28 year old back in August would have been good business. I'm happy we never really had to make that decision though
Really? Toney was older and went for £40m with just one year on his contract.

Yet Yoanne goals per minute per goal is 188. Toneys in PL was 203 and if you remove his penalties then it becomes 293

Are these people secret QPR fans in disquise !!! What a player, may we keep him for as long as possible.

I seems to me that Lewis-Potter has been working on his left foot… the one he scored his goal with!

Once again I didn't want to sell him but I could see some sense in the sale at the right price. I'm over the moon the Wolves didn't offer anything close to that and I suspect that even if they had the club, who know way more than I do obviously, would have dismissed it and demanded a massive fee.

I don't think it's controversial to think that in the summer it could have been good business to sell for a high fee and reinvest. I will say again though that I didn't WANT him sold just that I, at the time, could see some logic in a sale. That's all.

“Some recollections may differ” ?

Yoane Wissa

Worked his socks off tonight. Scored one, had a goal cleared of the line second half and could have had another first half. The most underrated striker in the league. Well done for beating IT record on number of goals for Brentford in the PL. This without taking penalties. In hindsight a bargain buy. Well done PG.

Yoane Wissa

This season he is playing how I thought he’d play last season during toneys ban. Took him a while to find his feet as a starter week in week out but we’re definitely reaping the rewards. Imagine both he and mbuemo hit 20 ?
