Final Score Brentford 1 (KLP) Liverpool 2

Brentford 1 (KLP) Liverpool 2

Not sure about anyone else, but yesterday's game reminded me of our infamous Monday evening game in October 1979 at Griffin Park against, yes, Sheffield United, and the infamous referee Alf Grey. Both games were extremely controversial, with the same scorelines, and will live long in memory for years to come!

I could write a 5 page post about that Sheffield Utd game but don’t want to detract from the thread title ☹️

As bad and annoying that yesterday was I personally don’t think it comes close to that Alf Grey night

I can't remember the last time we blew a game so badly from being, perhaps a bit fortunately, ahead. Just one of those days that's best forgotten.

Reading this I was immediately taken back to Sam Sodje needlessly getting sent off at Priestfield way back when.

What a ****
Should be prosecuted.
That lands on anyone from that height there’s a material risk of serious injury.
It’s like the 🛎️ ends who chuck coins off high stuff despite it being obvious, to even a cretin, that it’s incredibly dangerous.

Brentford 1 (KLP) Liverpool 2

They need to introduce retrospective action for simulation. It’s ruining the game for me, and I’m sure lots of others too. I’d normally have watched at least one of the games this afternoon, but just losing interest because of all this nonsense.

Funnily enough I didn't think we were playing all that well until we scored. After the goal we were in complete control, especially when Szoboszlai went off
Being pedantic here, we were ahead for 2 or 3 minutes until Yarmo got sent off so that’s hardly “complete control”, and Szoboszlai had gone off 20 minutes earlier…

😂😂😂

Iraola thinks VAR was wrong to intervene for Dango playing the ball cleanly. What a throbber:

“I think the penalty situation, watching the replay, I watched it on the screen. It's clear. I think Dango [Ouattara] touches the ball. I don't think it's a penalty, but also I don’t think the VAR should intervene in those situations because there is clear contact after. I remember in the Nottingham Forest penalty against us this season, where they tell us it's not a penalty and the VAR is not going to intervene because there's contact.

So, I think it is a very similar situation, and I wouldn't call the penalty live. I think after watching the replay Dango arrives to touch the ball a little bit, but the way they explain to me the situation against Forest is exactly that one and I don't think the VAR should intervene.”
So he says its not a penalty, then still wants the penalty....

That will get the roof garden shut off. The girl sat on the low wall overlooking the drop would have the H&E in fits. I wonder if we could sponsor a full length flag from the roof.
Hopefully that will get them banned said roof gardens or their tenacy curtailed.

An absolute imbecile. Surely there is a clause in the building lease against idiotic things like these. It’s not hard for the club to find who and where m.
I would think it’s more a criminal matter booting a rugby from that kind of height into or toward a crowded area is surely criminal….

Not sure I’ve seen anything in here about the Anti-racism theme and the booing of Argentinians. Maybe this is because Argentinians aren’t a race … or maybe irony shouldn’t get in the way of fans’ banter.

Brentford 1 (KLP) Liverpool 2

Amazing that very few have picked up on Jacquets part in the red card.
Regardless whether you think it was or wasnt, the contact from Yarmos head was VERY minimal, so why did Jacquet stay down, prone like he had actually died, for over a minute?
Theres embarrassing, then there is whatever s*it that was from the cheat.
Agree 100% @aawharris but to compete at this level we have to do the same.
Provoke, dive, con, cheat, etc, etc
Not what I want us to be but nice guys don’t win.

Just as well cheating scousers aren't a race.

And if it had landed on a young childs head?
True. It fell off the roof and the front rows are right underneath and the roof line finishes before the front few rows. Loads of kids in those front rows. Watching the video seems like the person who did it had been trying to do that for over several occasions.

One thing finding the actual media post but another thing finding the person and then tracking them down to take action… have they found them do you know?

If this person is a leaseholder, it will almost certainly in breech of their lease. If this is person is renting, it will almost certainly be in breech of their tenancy. And it its not good enough to say its my mate, he does not live here!.

Have not seen the video so not sure what the purpose or intent was.

Brentford 1 (KLP) Liverpool 2

We were unfortunate today.
However, most objective people who watch football can see the Premier League is not a level playing field.
Refereeing standards are generally poor, game after game. Mistakes and actions are obsessively analysed in the media, VAR has destroyed the spontaneity of the sport for spectators and the regulatory authorities are held hostage to the big clubs wealth, influence and clout.
The experience for me is hardly satisfying and I don't really enjoy it.
Just my opinion.....
I kind of agree.
I compare the refereeing i see in The Southern Combination (Sussex County in old money) and the Isthmian South East Division and it is much better than the Premier League.
I hated yesterday and the sh*te officiating and i have to say it will not put me off,but i know that when we play at Manchester United i will be better off staying at home for my sanity.
I hate Liverpool FC and everything it stands for as they behaved like a pub team yesterday and the ref allowed it and may as well got changed in their dressing room.
They may be good refs even the best, but they are not strong or dominant during the game anymore.

I know i am a bad loser.
I readily admit that.

F***ing idiot.

I'd like to think he'll be caught and punished, but I won't hold my breath.
Easy to identify the flat involved, sanction the owner (probably not the kicker) & more likely the tw*t who rents it or the Tik tok, Instagram w***er who Airb’n’b it.

Social media! I f***ing hate it, present company excepted.

They are all rentals from the same company. The club know who it is as they sold the land to them!

Brentford 1 (KLP) Liverpool 2

Yes… but identifying the person kicking the ball is a different thing. It’s the rooftop garden so anyone could be up there. Hope the club push for action

Ha! Don't think you're being pedantic, think that's just straight facts. Think the beers erased my memory haha. It was one hell of a 3 minutes tho wasn't it

I think on proper reflection, we took control once Szoboszlai went off even before we took the lead.

We looked comfortable up until the red card.

And once Liverpool made that sub we really got some momentum going.

Red card killed it.

Brentford 1 (KLP) Liverpool 2

Had a quick chat with my liverpool colleague, and he thought that the red card to YY was much thinner and killed off the game as well, leaving him with a bit of a sour taste about the win (even if only partially because he thought they should’ve been good enough to win without it, and they had no showing of being that)

Brentford 1 (KLP) Liverpool 2

Didn’t post straight after the game but after calming down and more reflection - I don’t understand the rave reviews about Iraola and Liverpool.

Slow, lacking energy, a very expensive strike force that can’t deliver. Munoz was excellent the whole game, and their goals well taken but the rest of that team didn’t put in a shift. It might all click for them but at the moment they look a bottom half side to me and I am gutted we didn’t get the chance to beat them
Mystery to me why they're not starting Ngumoha, made a huge difference when he came on.

Difficult to quantify imo, It was against 10 men and the game was stretched. Having said that he hurt us more than the absent Barcola who cost 150M.

Brentford 1 (KLP) Liverpool 2

I just hope Jacquet is ok.
Life changing facial injuries, surely.
I believe this type of behaviour is being drummed into Liverpool by Iraola as Bournemouth used to do it frequently under him as well. I can remember 3 or 4 occasions last season against us, when they were defending under pressure and we had the ball near their area someone would fall to the ground with a mystery head injury to get the game stopped. This would also lead to their keeper restarting the game!!

Exactly.
A sub standard coach looking better by abusing the system.
Im sure the fans will love finishing 6th or 7th with that team

Unconfirmed reports that Leo Roget’s penalty has finally returned to earth.

I agree. I think the lad should be forced to watch QPR all season as a punishment, that will stop anyone else from thinking on doing such a stupid prank.

The police should really be able to cut these clips from social media…. I notice the daily mail had it on there Facebook feed which in my mind just encourages other stupid bastards!! If they are banging up grannies for holding a sign on the street surely more can be done to stop this nonsense

You might need to be rocket scientist to work out the damage caused by it, but you only need google to find it out.

Hope everyone associated with the stunt gets proper FAFO treatment

Terrible refereeing. Right there and couldn't see that the ball change it's path as well as McAllister throwing himself to the floor.
I really don't understand how VAR can only show one angle of Yarmo on Jacquet and he can change his mind. Once again he was looking right at it. Gabriel on Haaland is a clear headbutting action then. There just isn't any consistency in the decisions made with VAR
He's another crap ref in a gaggle of them in the Premier League.

That's the officials job too. The YY red card should at least have been viewed in context by the ref. Sure, it's a red. But in the build up to it both Jacquet and VD commit yellow card offences to incite YY. They should be getting booked too.

The edge of area view of him putting his head into Jaquet is not great, one angle shows a clear motion towards him. Was contact made? There is no angle of that. The behind goal angle, looks like he actually makes contact with the chest.
I personally think he should have been shown the full context too. If you watched the angle from edge of area for the previous 10 seconds then you'd see Jaquet deliberately bump into him several times, including using his shoulder. You can see Yarmo looking at the ref with arms raised to get his attention and the ref wasn't looking. Did Yarmo see it as an opportunity and forgot VAR? Maybe. Who knows.
I hate in these instances that refs dont get shown what potentially caused these indicents and dont take that into consideration.
Or how the hell a small brush can cause a grown man to go, and stay, down for a few minutes motionless.

How Brooks can go to the screen with a very poor quality view of an incident and decide its definitely a red card headbutt bit failed to see that the Gabriel incident was not a headbutt.
He was VAR when that happened and decided against further action.

The fact my piss is starting to boil at the mention of his name, a game 45 years ago and a ref who is long passed away, tells you how bad that was.

My dad never swore and was the most laid back polite person ever, I remember him standing up leaning over the tunnel from the top of the Braemar and shouting, “utter disgrace, total rubbish” etc etc. never, ever saw him that upset or angry before or after that night.

Not like me, I am like that all the time, took after my mental Irish mother I suppose.

But last Saturday, well, I am so used to it now, we had it in the championship for years and we have had it here for 4 years. I try not to carry it round with me for too long after.

But I am getting irritated by the scousers all acting like they have turned a corner or something.

And I do think the cheating ***** should be cited for putting his shoulder into Yarmo’s face, surely that is violent conduct that should have been picked up by var

Re the "rugby ball" stunt. What next golf balls, fireworks, etc?

Put netting up over the top of the flats, paid for by the idiot who kicked it.

I'm sure the owners of said properties will be appreciative of their property being devalued as a result.

I actually wonder now whether we will see a landslide of this thing happening - what with Jacquet saturday and Luke Shaw last week (both should have been booked), players from big clubs will know that they can instigate something, cause the other player to snap, then just walk away whistling, knowing they have got away with it scott free.
