First chance for Bees.
Lovely cross from Harris-Walters, picks out Cheatley with the goal gaping, but ball bounces up and she handles it.

Harris—Walters is proving a handful down the right. Another dangerous cross, begging to be put away

FT: Dorking Wanderers 0 - 4 Brentford (WFAC 2QR)

Cheatley makes a dangerous run that causes a Dorking player to handle the ball, ref plays advantage and a chance for Abbi Smith that was wasted

FT: Dorking Wanderers 0 - 4 Brentford (WFAC 2QR)

0-1

Maddie Philips cross is mishandled by the. Dorking keeper and it creeps into the far post. Feel for the keeper there, as it was whipped with venom, but should still have been held.

9' Maddie Phillips cross from the goal line looked like it had been heading for the top left corner and the keeper could t control it, fumbled it into the net.

FT: Dorking Wanderers 0 - 4 Brentford (WFAC 2QR)

Dorking have a decent run of plays with a couple of decent chances

FT: Dorking Wanderers 0 - 4 Brentford (WFAC 2QR)

Abbi Smith breaks the offside trap and gets a shot away, before it’s flagged off…. Would like to see that again.

FT: Dorking Wanderers 0 - 4 Brentford (WFAC 2QR)

Brentford appear to be playing 3-4-2-1

FT: Dorking Wanderers 0 - 4 Brentford (WFAC 2QR)

Couple chances in quick succession for Harris-Walters and then Teale… both dealt well by Dorking keeper.

FT: Dorking Wanderers 0 - 4 Brentford (WFAC 2QR)

Mistake by Black gives Dorking a decent chance…. But well read by Reeves-Priestly.

FT: Dorking Wanderers 0 - 4 Brentford (WFAC 2QR)

Cheatley gets a strike away, but straight at the keeper

FT: Dorking Wanderers 0 - 4 Brentford (WFAC 2QR)

Harris-Walters has a shot tipped over by the keeper…. Given as a goal kick

FT: Dorking Wanderers 0 - 4 Brentford (WFAC 2QR)

Incredible bit of defending takes the ball off of Ashley’s toes with the goal gaping.

Follow up corner, sees a nice save off of a Maddie Phillips shot

Their number 5 is the best player on the pitch.

Ilana Haaris Waters did really well to put in a perfect cross that it looked like Ashley Cheatley would bury but the defender did well to clear.

Lucy Potter now has a shot wide.
It feels like the second is coming…. But just lacking that little bit of composure/quality.

Abbi Smith hits the post. Beautiful bit of feet to give her the chance

Brentford keep getting caught offside

A few offside calls that have gone against us, that’s I’d like to see again. 🤔

Maddie Phillips from the spot makes it two nil with the last kick of the first half after Ashley Cheatley was brought down in the box

More Bees subs

Dorking have a stonking shot, well blocked by defence.

FT: Dorking Wanderers 0 - 4 Brentford (WFAC 2QR)

Berry hits the bar/crossbar/post… right on the angle. Keeper tides up.

Bees then are nearly hit is on the counter attack. Wasted opportunity for Dorking.

Dorking were better than their league position suggests, as you can see from their draw with Hammersmith last time out.
Brentford were well off their level from the Hammersmith game.
The striker watching in the stand seemed grumpy not to be playing!

Sunday 20th Sept 2026
Womens FA Cup
Dorking Wanderers vs Brentford
Meadowbank, Dorking
FT 0-4 (HT 0-2)

The magic of the FA Cup returns, but for today’s Bees, it was no great conjuring trick, and more of a straight forward 3(or maybe 4) card side hustle.

Bees barely got out of first gear today. There was little bite in the game and you got the feeling today was an opportunity to experiment with formations and setups. There were lots of overly complex combinations and passages of play that made it feel like a preseason friendly of experimenting.

Maybe it was the warm sun and the summer feel, but the game barely got out of start mode and it wasn’t the most competitive or compelling. You can only beat what is in front of you. Dorking looked very young, and small. They stuck to their guns well, but Bees had little need to step up the gears.

Maybe the upcoming Bees game at the Gtech was in some players minds, no need to overly exert or tweak anything when the prospect of performing at the Gtech is on offer next week. Maybe players were just playing within themselves with one eye on the game next week.

We did miss Kiszkis up front. The dynamic of the side looks so much more dangerous and compelling with two up front. Harris-Walters had a good game, and reminded Carly of what she can do & it was good to see Sangha back on the pitch after her injury.

Bigger test next week though. Newhaven have had a strong start to the season. Here’s hoping as many of you get down to the Gtech next week to see this new team & hopefully they will turn on the style next week, for a performance we know they can give.

I actually thought Dorking were quite up for it and won more than their fair share of the physical duels.

Funny how standing in different spots, give you different perspectives. I thought Dorking tried hard, but seemed quite lightweight and under-coached.
There is definite talent within their team, just looked underprepared.

I had to change sides for the second half as I couldn’t bare to be level with the lady linesperson any longer as it wasn’t doing my general karma levels any good!
She somehow gave a ball out of play in the second half when about a yard away to the disbelief of all present.
Me and my dad were two of only 4 people sitting on the dugout side for the first half.
