Also the club is way more patient than many fans and expects that from players too.
The Club is also infinitely better equipped to make a judgement on the player and where he is on his development pathway.

He has certainly beefed up, looking forward to seeing him this season. Could be a revelation

From what little I saw of him at Swansea it didn't look as though beefing up did him much good, maybe needs to adapt to it but he didn't look like the direct dribbling winger we signed from gremio. Might just be the price of admission to not get bullied off the ball in the prem, and maybe when hes adapted to his stockier frame it'll only be a good thing. I'm not the most optimistic about his chances this season tho. Hoping I'm proved wrong

On the basis that we have all seen so little of him I suppose it’s all about hunches . My default is it’s all going to be brilliant. 🤩

Gustavo Nunes

Got no idea what he is or whether he can make a go of it with us. This has to be a make or break season for him assuming he’s fit.

I hope you are wrong as well.

I would think with age on his side it's just about keeping on improving in line with his development program that the club will likely have.

I can't imagine it's make or break yet.

He must be a similar age to Arthur, I would have thought.

Keith alluded to some of the youngers making big gains in small amounts of time.

I've seen glimmers of ability but not much more though👍

Not make it break yet I agree. But he does need to demonstrate progress possibly through a more convincing loan spell at another championship club.

Undoubted potential. Time to start delivering.

At this moment, we (the fans) have no idea as to the coaching staff’s pre-season assessment of all the younger players’ pathways. It’s likely the squad travelling to Rennes will give us our first clue, though…

He's 20 and if we take up the option he has 6 years left of his 8 year contract

Gustavo Nunes

I can see him going on loan to a Portuguese top flight club.. Language affinity would help him

He'd love a stint in West Bromich.

We have Carvalho and Thiago at Brentford that both speak Portuguese, which should help him enough.
Also, I don't think it makes sense to send him somewhere "comfortable" because the idea is that he is supposed to be developing and hardening for top-flight English football.

He could have just stayed in Brazil or signed for a Portuguese club otherwise.

Gustavo Nunes

I think we have players ahaed of him who can make more impact off the bench at the moment . Anthony , Wilson , Furo , Fabs too even maybe
Agree. Short of injuries, I don't see him getting any PL playing time any time soon. Maybe a LC appearance or two, but I wouldn't be surprised to see another loan. He didn't exactly rip it up at Swansea.

Gustavo Nunes

Looks destined for another loan, after not being in the squad last night. I can't see any minutes for him here this season.

Although he's young, I do feel this needs to be a breakout season for him, wherever he plays. He's on a six year contract and will be halfway through it next summer.

Hope he can get another championship club and get regular game time.

Gustavo Nunes

I've thought that for a while. I expected him loaned out again, but it didn't happen.

Yet he was on the bench on Saturday. Maybe a 'strain' again?
Benches can be uncomfortable

Gustavo Nunes

I imagine he must’ve picked up an injury because if he wasn’t going to be involved tonight why bother putting him on the bench for a Premier League game? Bear in mind we had 0 centre backs on the bench for that Bournemouth game…

Maybe there's only space on the bench for one of those two U21s, and it was decided that Fredrick had more of a chance of getting on the pitch today given Schade Anthony and Anthony were on the bench already cos KLP started on the wing. In the Bournemouth game it might be that Nunes had more of a chance as only 1 other winger in Ouattara on the bench, and it may be that Fredrick didn't look ready to play CB in a prem game just yet.

Could also be Keith just giving the bench slots for fringe players to whoever's trained better than week cos he's got no intention of using them either way

Gustavo Nunes

He was on the bench at Bournemouth but not tonight. If no injury Id find that odd.

Gustavo Nunes

Yes, as he did last pre season
 He lasted 5 second half minutes in our first friendly vs Gil Vicente before getting injured.

Injuries have plagued his time with us thus far and he's clearly not doing enough to make up for lost time... Yet! But there's always hope until they leave

Gustavo Nunes

How was he for Swansea last season? Don't remember it being a Donovan type loan signing for Sheff Utd
